Patrick Mckinnon

Gym Owner and Head Coach

Patrick started his martial arts journey as Lead Strength and Conditoning coach at Shooters Dundee in 2011. It was here he learnt the fundamentals of Mixed Martial Arts, Submission grappling and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

In 2015, Patrick left Dundee for work in England and trained Muay Thai at Genesis Gym in Marlow until moving back up to Scotland in 2017.

November 2017 is when Patrick started Promethean Mixed Martial arts in East Lothian.

Iain Scott

Judo Coach & Assistant BJJ Coach

Iain has been involved with grappling sports since the early 90's. 

As a competitive 1st Dan and Judo coach he brings his passion and knowledge of both Tachi-waza and Ne-waza into his shared interest in BJJ. 

Supporting the development of Judo based skills and fundamental BJJ, Iain is always keen to support the development of Promethean members.

Ryan Mccran

Youth Muay Thai Coach

Ryan McCran is a qualified personal trainer and our dedicated youth coach for Muay Thai. He first stepped into martial arts at just 14 years old and has never looked back. Over the years, Ryan has trained and competed in Muay Thai, MMA, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, building a wealth of experience across different disciplines. His passion for the sport and genuine care for helping others shines through in every session. As our youth coach, Ryan creates a positive and supportive environment where younger members can learn, grow in confidence, and develop their skills. He’s an integral part of the team and a big reason why our youth program continues to thrive.

Kyle Scott

Muay Thai & Boxing Coach

Kyle Scott is one of our Muay Thai and Boxing coaches, bringing a wealth of competitive experience and athletic ability to the team. Training with us since 2019, Kyle has stepped into competition in No-Gi grappling, MMA, and boxing—most notably achieving the title of Scottish Heavyweight Amateur Champion. Before martial arts, Kyle was also a well-accomplished rugby player in his youth, which adds to his strength, fitness, and physical presence as a coach. His drive, experience, and approachable nature make him a valuable part of our coaching team.
